Well, Rocky is still With Us, the kittens are gone, we have a new feral cat, and I just wish we lived in a No Pets zone. Today, at least.

We’re packing to leave for 5 days, which means that for the last 3 days I’ve been going insane and driving everyone else insane, insisting that we be packed and ready to go by like, Monday, and freaking out that there’s no way we’ll get it all done and leave on time. I was really trying hard not to go mental on the family, so I purposely procrastinated some things, and now- guess what? WE’LL NEVER BE READY TO GO ON TIME!

Tomorrow I have to:
go to the bank
get tires put on the car (cha-ching!)
work half a day with baby and squirrel in tow
pack the car
download books to listen to in the car
hem my pants, since M forbade me to wear my “freaky flowy MC Hammer” pants. Which are the right length
re-solder the poer jack connection on the laptop again
oh, and eat and work out

It doesn’t look like a lot, but picture it all happening with a baby strapped to my hip or alternately, following me around screaming until I pick her up.

I’m screwed. At least, technically there will be a few hours tomorrow night where we can either relax, or more likely, run around crazily trying to tie up loose ends. This time, we’re planning to travel in the dead of night, in hopes of avoiding the 4 hour Screechfest of Horror that we endured on the last trip home from Asheville.

Never was I so annoyed to be raising a child who doesn’t watch TV. Why the hell did we pay for the damn DVD player if it won’t work as a shut-up switch for my kids?
