poetic justice, in spades: 2 weeks ago, I tortured my husband while he suffered through one of the worst strains of the flu to hit our town in years. (I made that up. Does the embellishment help or hurt the story?) I made fun of him for obsessively taking his temperature to the point that he burned through the batteries in the good thermometer.
“do you feel like shit? then you have a fever! jesus! go to bed!”
I secretly cursed him for feeling well enough to be on the computer (notice how I’m sneak blogging while he’s out getting me a milkshake) but not well enough to help me with the kids. I’m also sick, arthritis flare, but my sick is old news and by now it’s part of our day to day and I assumed that he assumed that I just should suck it up because his was worse even though it clearly wasn’t.

my fever is 101.2 if you must know
and at 4 p.m. it was 100.5
and last night at 9 p.m. it was 100.2
my daily temp is 97.9, and for that reason I don’t ever get a “temperature” and I always say “I don’t ‘get’ fevers”
and whatever whatever I have not ever felt as horrible as I have the last two days
and yes
I have at moments felt well enough to watch Law and order
and then pass out in a sweaty mess for three hours
and wake up to wander around in a stupor, shower, and pass our for three more hours and wake up and go, “hey! I kicked this flu’s ASS! Let’s go to the MOVIES! Let’s put together the JEEP! Let’s…..WHY WON”T ANYONE EVER DO ANY CHORES AROUND……zzzzzzzzzzzz” and then wake up in a snarled mass of sweaty blankets again.

I’m either:
asleep
or
holding a thermometer under my tongue because I too am fascinated by the correlation between body temperature that feeling of being run over by a car
or
huddled under sick scented blankets (mmmm, awakening ALL your senses! don’t you wish I had a webcam!) watching tivo.
