little bits of nothing

November 8, 2007 by Summer

Thursday full of random bits. I hope I’m not already running out of NoBloPoMo steam.

There should be a Universal Law of some kind that would prevent a person from having chin hair and zits at the same time.

The new BabyJ wakeup times of midnight, five, and 7 a.m. are at direct odds with my sanity-inducing sleep schedule. If BabyJ doesn’t get with the program soon, he may be sold to the gypsies. LittleA (who is no longer a Toddler, I suppose) indulges us in the morning until at least 8 or 9, and sometimes 10. This may be the earliest incidence in history of a mother asking her child “why can’t you be more like your sister?”

In related news, further evidence that I should never have to wake up with the baby: Last night, less than an hour after I fell asleep with LittleA’s tiny feet crammed into my lower back, I was up with BabyJ, who was back in bed by 12:10, and I spent the next THREE HOURS rocking in bed (yes, I’m a rocker. I used to be a kicker), grinding my teeth and wishing nightmares on my snoring husband. This morning at SEVEN (fuck you, time change), when I climbed out of bed I was informed that the baby woke up at five. Insert baleful eyes and snappish voice here. “Oh really?” (I already knew this because I ALSO WOKE UP AT FIVE, JACKASS and I was awake when you came back to bed 10 minutes later, and awake when you fell back asleep and commenced to the Snoring) I said, “He was up at midnight as well. And so was I, until three” (In your FACE, Mr. I slept from 10:30 until 5 a.m. UnFUCKINGInterrupted)

Round one: Martyr point goes to the mama. Stay tuned for dinner points.

Story Hour at the local Library In Training was a bust but LittleA loves the fountain, so we’ll go back. BabyJ crawled his first – what are they, steps?- on the filthy library floor.

Speaking of filthy floors, I’ve decided to carpet the second story. (save for TeenHer’s room. She’s not allowed carpet in her sleeping area due to her extreme allergy to dust mites. Advice? Do not google dust mites. Nightmares. Be warned.) It’s cheaper and faster and more baby friendly. I plan to spend every day all day upstairs rolling around on the soft floor with my kids.

I’ve read a book, sorted photos for our scrapbooks, and am halfway through another one. I like Low (electronic) Media month.

Speaking of which: my 20 minutes are up. Today is Work Day, which means I’ll be on the computer this afternoon “working” (read: futzing around with a website while obsessively checking my email and rss reader). I’m actually a little sad that I won’t have time to read my book tonight.

If you find this law, let me know, because I’ll have a lawsuit ready.

How can J be crawling? He was JUST born!
