HOT HOT HOT

July 12, 2005 by Summer

Well, if you can imagine ONE MORE THING happening to this house-do it. I’ll save you having to imagine: The A/C went out again today. That’s the new one, folks. Today, the day that my dad is getting home at like 9 from the band parents meeting. At the same time, the water pressure in the house went to nil. So, since I am very smart, I deduced that the water pressure and the A/C are connected, but I just figured it could all wait until tomorrow, cause no way would I make my dad come here to fix a bunch of shit late at night.

Except then I went out to the pumphouse around 8, to see if there was something glaringly obvious wrong that I could fix myself, cause I’m handy like that. Cue the water shooting all over the place out of a hole ni the GALVANIZED pipe connecting the pump to the water mains. I was smart enough to shut off the water at that point and it really looked like I would totally be capable of replacing the part, but my dad heard I had a wrench in my hand and he broke the sound barrier getting here around 9. Fixed that turned the water back on, and the AC was still not working and that water pressure was still low. Now it’s like, almost 10 and dad is going to go check under the house where he just installed the new unit. Guess what? Lake Page is located under our house now. Evidently, and I would have known this had I been smart enough to go look under the house today when the A/C went off, one of the fittings on the unit came loose, and it didn’t look like it had ever been sealed. So. Water has been PURING out of a PVC pipe under our house since like, noon.

I saw this look on Michael’s face, and I knew what he was thinking. I said, “I know what you’re thinking. You’re thinking, I cant wait to get out of this shithole and into our new house where nothing will break. Well, honey-you should be prepared for things not to go perfectly. Stuff will need to be adjusted, things will settle and there will be stuff here and there even in the beginning.”

He replied, “this is the wrong time to talk to me about that. shut up.”
