Right away:
Get one printer working and throw out the other three
remove the TV from the bedroom. Stop watching news
Purge books
take magazines to the clinic
put in for a leave of absence at work, or quit
reduce online futzing. it’s relaxing to some people, but not to me. The porch is relaxing. Must spend more time there.
Junk Food. Out. Use Junk food money to make up for loss of income from shit job.
Join the gym. Use gym time to listen to music and not be on the internet.
Leave cell phone at home when driving to work. it’s less than a mile from here and there’s a phone. Use the 5 minute commute to be alone with my thoughts.
Purge. One room at a time. Stop begging work friends to take the stuff. If they don’t show up, haul it away and stop feeling guilty about it. If they really wanted the stuff they’d show up for it. Stop trying to be everyone’s personal savior.
Fucking purge the supplement cabinet. If we haven’t used the echinacia or the glutamine in a year, it’s not gonna happen. Stop planning for every contingency. Research multi-use remedies, supplements, and homemade cleaners.
Limit trips to Heaven (Target) to once a week.
Eat meals at dining room table instead of in front of the TV or computer.
Get to a park or the zoo or the beach once a week. The kid needs it.
This is good stuff. I should do something similar. I’ve been trying to cut back on computer time and it’s made a world of difference in how I view the success of my day, so maybe that’s something. I hope your simplicity experiment goes well.
